The aims of Bangladesh spine Society are to encourage the exchange of knowledge and ideas in the field of research, prevention and treatment of spine disorders and related problems and to coordinate efforts undertaken in our country for further development in this field.

FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK

Dear Colleagues,
Spine surgery is an evolving field of Orthopaedics. It requires both deep theoretical knowledge and surgical skills in order to practice spine surgery. This course is designed for practicing young spine surgeons with an interest to upgrade their expertise in spine surgery.
Participants will develop deep knowledge through expert lectures on anatomy, surgical techniques, indications and contraindications, instrumentation combined with intense practical training on anatomical specimens.
The objective of the course is to gain a basic understanding and fundamentals of thoracolumbar & spino pelvic fixation and fusion procedure that will help them managing different spinal pathologies in their day to day practice.
Attendees will have the opportunity to practice all presented surgical approach and techniques, pedicle screw placement, spino pelvic fixation techniques and interbody fusion techniques under the supervision of spine experts at the laboratory.
We would like to welcome you to this course and hope for its successful accomplishment. We believe it will immensely help your carrier development as a spine surgeon.

Message from Secretary General

Respected BSS Members,

I feel highly honored to take over as the Secretary General of Bangladesh Spine Society (BSS) and I believe, with all your help and active involvement, our society will make tremendous strides in the upcoming years.

The Society is immensely grateful to Professor Dr. Kh. Abdul Awal Rizvi and Professor Dr. Md. Shah Alam the former President and Secretary General respectively for their contribution, guidance, and commitment towards the BSS. We also congratulate the other executives as well for their tremendous enthusiasm during the last tenure.

COVID pandemic posed major challenges on many fronts, still we have exhibited resilience and innovation to excel in all the activities of BSS. I soulfully appreciate everyone for rising to the crisis and continuing best professional commitment to our patients despite all odds.
Bangladesh Spine Society started its journey in 2008 with only 19 highly dedicated spine surgeons. The early path was not pervaded with roses. The initial struggle was for identity as Spine professional followed by development of Spine surgery as a super specialty service in our country. I must acknowledge the fore runners of Spine surgery for their whole hearted efforts to build up our fraternity. I must mention the name of Dr. Md. Idris Ali as the founder Secretary General of Bangladesh Spine Society for his great contribution for developing this society.
Bangladesh Spine Society became a government registered organization on 2016 and I congratulate those who relentlessly worked for it.
Research is, indeed, an important aspect in development and progress in this medical field. I have taken upon myself as one of my manifestos as the Secretary General of BSS to create more research opportunities for the members of BSS and to bridge knowledge between spine surgeons globally through research of spine surgery. As I had a firm commitment to publish our official organ, the official Journal of Bangladesh Spine Society we are adherently working on it for earliest exposer. Please stay connected to receive all the information we share in our forum.

We are moving ahead to introduce full flagged Spine fellowship in BSMMU and our major government institutions. The Society continues to monitor the priorities our fellows without compromising their expertise in engaging new knowledge and learning new systems that will enhance their practices after the fellowship.
Its our great pleasure to share you that the official website of Bangladesh Spine Society is going to be uncovered during the 13th BSSCON 2022. It will explore a new window of exchange our views globally.

As we adapt to the new normalcy, BSS is also trying to turn on its educational and outreach programmes.

BSS will continue to innovate and explore new methods to rejuvenate your ideas and knowledge. We would like to call upon you to stay curious to explore and receive, as we strive to bring you novel and worthwhile educational experience.
Our ultimate goal is reforming BSS as a global multidisciplinary scientific organization dedicated to fostering the highest quality, ethical, value-based and evidence-based spine care through education, research and advocacy.
